Why we Worship

PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all peoples!
  Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
  a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
  and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
  the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout,
  the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
  Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
  sing praises with a psalm!

Why Sing?

God reigns over the nations;
  God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
  as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
  he is highly exalted!

Why Scripture?

Revival

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:31)

What Only God Can Do
Gearhardt
Calling on the Spirit of God is God-glorifying. And it is counter-intuitive, because the natural man says, "I'll do it myself, thank you." Ultimately, the Holy Spirit intervening is our only hope of lasting change.

Come Thou Fount
Robert Robinson
Expressing a God-focused mindset, and the gratitude that flows out of a fervent soul in worship.

Heal Our Land
Walt Harrah
National prayer, on behalf of a culture of godlessness, also including the Church. The hope is that we will repent and turn from our wicked ways, and that healing will take place.

A River To My Soul
Walt Harrah
Water is lifegiving. And by the Spirit, we are promised a well that not only springs up inside us, but then overflows out of us, enriching everyone we meet.

Prepare The Way
| Walt Harrah
When the Lord comes into a situation, darkness flees and order is restored. That is both a present hope and the ultimate reality. Meanwhile, get ready.

The Kiss Of Death
God's grace can lead to not taking sin very seriously. Big mistake! Sin is toxic, to kiss it is to die. Its aim is to take us out, to render us harmless, ineffective, useless, or worse yet, turning us into bored, distracted and conflicted spectators.

Don't Worry! Be Happy!
In denial. Nero, who apparently fiddled while Rome burned, would be the classic example of it. Jesus faced it while here on earth. And the disease is still with us. What are its symptoms? Diagnosis is the first step to finding a cure.

Wrath and Mercy
We like thinking of God as merciful. We are very uncomfortable thinking of him being wrathful, of calling us to account for sin and rebellion. But as it turns out, God's justice is a combination of both mercy and wrath.

Wake Up
Physical sleep is wonderful, but spiritual sleep, that's another matter. Drowsiness is not a good thing when it comes to the Christian walk. What does being wide awake look like for believers, and how can we stir ourselves out of our slumber?
