Why we Worship

PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all peoples!
Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
  and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout,
the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
  sing praises with a psalm!

Why Sing?

God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
  he is highly exalted!

Why Scripture?

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)

God has always been trustworthy, and history is full of His acts of power, and His display of deliverance. And each time He intervenes, praise is the appropriate response.

Be Still My Soul
Katharina von Schlegel
Regardless what the circumstances would suggest, God is in control. And with that truth firmly fixed in our minds we can rest, trusting that he will work out everything according to his plan, which is always for the best.

The Hope We Have
Walt Harrah
Christian hope is the spiritual gasoline that fuels our faith, and keeps us running with perseverance. A Christian without hope is an oxymoron, like a car with no engine.

So Grateful
| Walt Harrah
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." I Thessalonians 5:18

I Wait In Hope
| Walt Harrah
Waiting on God glorifies Him. But waiting without the "wringing of hands," waiting in hope, glorifies Him even more.

God Is With Us
Thomas Gill
Our all-powerful God, who does whatever pleases him, is pleased to fight for us. He is Emmanuel, God with us.

God Has Never Failed Us Yet
| Walt Harrah
God is on our side, and watches over us. He never falls asleep, and at just the right time, he rescues and delivers.

God Will Deliver Me

You might say that God is in the delivery business. Call on me in the day of trouble; I WILL DELIVER YOU, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15

A Miracle For You
| Walt Harrah
Our God, who has all power, never faces any obstacle that he can't fix. He turns desert places into springs. Miracles are his "bread and butter." So we wait on him expectantly.

“God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”-- Revelation 7:17

You Know It's True
| Walt Harrah
Jesus came, full of grace and truth. Satan works overtime to get us to believe his lies. The Spirit works on our conscience, telling us right and wrong.

Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling. 2 Corinthians 5:2

Hallowed Be Your Name
Walt Harrah
Our God is a prayer-hearing God. Prayer is the means by which we commune with God and he with us. And the essentials of prayer are found in the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples.

Heal Our Land
Walt Harrah
National prayer, on behalf of a culture of godlessness, also including the Church. The hope is that we will repent and turn from our wicked ways, and that healing will take place.

I Will Not Fear
Walt Harrah
With God on our side, we have an advantage that the world knows nothing of, and His presence means that we can trust instead of fretting. Fear is a warning light that we are not trusting.

The Awesome God Who Can
Walt Harrah
Our minds are finite. And our imaginations have a governor on them. We see through a glass dimly. But God has no such limitations. The One who created the heavens and the earth is able to do far more than we could ask or even think.

Unchanging God
Isaac Watts
Everything around us may change, but the God we worship is immutable. It is not possible for him to improve, age, or morph. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. God will always be faithful. He cannot be anything else.

Here Is Your God
| Walt Harrah
We are not on our own. We are not left to our own selves. There is a God. He is mighty and powerful, and he delivers and saves. And when we call, he answers.

Eternal God
We are finite. God is not. He is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. And because he never changes, his acts in the past have everything to do with our lives today.

The God of Hope
Drumming up hope from earthly sources takes up much of our time, but it is, well, hopeless. Only God can provide hope that lasts, hope based on who He is and His intentions for us. It's all good, because God promises, and then delivers on His word.

Every Knee Will Bow
Right now, pluralism is king. When it comes to gods, come one, come all. But that will not always be so. Someday, the name Jesus will be the only name on the lips of every single person alive. The "He" in HE IS LORD will be Jesus! Bring on that day!
