Why we Worship

PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all peoples!
Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,
a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us,
  and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us,
the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout,
the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
  sing praises with a psalm!

Why Sing?

God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
  he is highly exalted!

Why Scripture?

Sovereignty

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. (Acts 17:24-25)

Prayer changes things.

The Hope We Have
Walt Harrah
Christian hope is the spiritual gasoline that fuels our faith, and keeps us running with perseverance. A Christian without hope is an oxymoron, like a car with no engine.

Prayer For The Future

God's sovereignty. We don't know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.

I Wait In Hope
| Walt Harrah
Waiting on God glorifies Him. But waiting without the "wringing of hands," waiting in hope, glorifies Him even more.

Jesus Answers Prayer
Fanny Crosby
The throne of grace is an untapped and endless resource of all the beliver will ever need. We are invited to come with confidence, and ask boldly in prayer.

God Is With Us

Shout For Joy To The Lord
Neander
Why do we worship the Lord? This song not only calls us to do that, it gives us a number of reasons to awaken our hearts to praise. The new refrain from Psalm 100 asks all the earth to join in the song.

God's Bigger
| Walt Harrah
No power anywhere, in heaven or on earth, can defeat Almighty God, the God who showed Himself to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and who sent His own Son to save mankind from their sin. Name any problem, our God is bigger.

Great God Of Love
Wesley/Harrah
The magnitude of our salvation, that we were dead and God made us alive, should awaken the loudest praise we can muster. What love but God's could run so deep, and extend so low, and raise to such height?

Pour Out Your Spirit
Walt Harrah
The Father has graciously promised that if we would ask, He would "pour out his Sprit without measure." The song asks for exactly that!

God Will Deliver Me
| Walt Harrah
You might say that God is in the delivery business. Call on me in the day of trouble; I WILL DELIVER YOU, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15

Father You Are Sovereign
Margaret Clarkson
When we say God is sovereign, we mean that nothing trumphs Him, his purposes can never be thwarted. His power is absolute, and nothing catches Him off guard. This is the ultimate statement of confidence, for who would not worship a God like this?

Hallowed Be Your Name
Walt Harrah
Our God is a prayer-hearing God. Prayer is the means by which we commune with God and he with us. And the essentials of prayer are found in the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples.

The Awesome God Who Can
Walt Harrah
Our minds are finite. And our imaginations have a governor on them. We see through a glass dimly. But God has no such limitations. The One who created the heavens and the earth is able to do far more than we could ask or even think.

Unchanging God
Isaac Watts
Everything around us may change, but the God we worship is immutable. It is not possible for him to improve, age, or morph. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. God will always be faithful. He cannot be anything else.

Most Holy Gracious God
Walt Harrah
God is holy. His perfect justice demands that he punish all disobedience, all rebellion. But on the cross, Jesus took the blows meant for us, and those who trust in Christ escape the punishment that we deserve. Hallelujah!

Anything
| Walt Harrah
God is alive and well and full of power, and ready to act in ways that further his plans and purposes. Nothing stops him, or tops him. He is supreme in power and authority.
